Ball Hog Sports
The idea for Ball Hog Sports spawned from the lack of quality sports programs and instruction in the Phoenix area. Having previously led other youth sports programs in San Francisco and New York, I was appalled and disappointed at what passed for youth sports leagues here in Arizona. Repetitive and uninspired activities, players wasting time waiting in lines with very few repetitions or touches on the ball, and an overall lack of coaching and leadership. In fact, I had never even heard of volunteer coaches until I started working in Phoenix. So out of my frustration, I founded Ball Hog Sports to solve some of these aforementioned problems.
As for my own experience, I have been coaching youth sports, specifically basketball, for over 20 years. My love of sports stems from my own background. I studied kinesiology and nutrition; earning an M.S. in Physiology, and a B.S. in Exercise Science with a minor in Nutrition from UC Davis.
Since college, I have coached various sports from baseball, cross country, soccer, volleyball and of course basketball from California to New York. From 2013-2016, for instance, I directed a youth basketball program in Bayside Queens, NY. More recently, I was a middle school coach at Success Charter Schools located in Harlem and the Bronx. As a coach at Success, I was able to win several championships with my teams, including a 5th-6th grade boy's volleyball championship, and highlighted by a perfect 10-0 season with my 5th-6th grade girl's basketball team. And currently, I am a USA Basketball Youth Development Licensed Coach.
I look forward to working with players and coaching them using my knowledge and techniques that I have honed through the years. So sign up today!
